Discover MiraDry: The Ultimate Solution for Underarm Sweating

Excessive sweating under the arms (axillary hyperhidrosis) is a major source of embarrassment and inconvenience for hundreds of thousands of Australians. With modern treatments like MiraDry, it’s easier than ever to resolve excessive sweating under your arms. Perth Sweat Clinic is an accredited MiraDry practice, with a team of experienced staff who help patients put a stop to uncomfortable armpit sweat.

What is MiraDry?

MiraDry is a quick, non-invasive procedure designed to precisely deliver controlled electromagnetic (microwave) energy to sweat (eccrine) glands and odour(apocrine) glands in the underarm region. This process entirely eliminates those glands, which don’t regenerate after treatment, for permanent results.

Treatment takes as little as 60 to 90 minutes, with 85% of patients only requiring a single procedure. Those suffering from more severe hyperhidrosis may require a second treatment 3 months later. A third treatment is required in very rare cases.

Is MiraDry a Safe Treatment?

The sweat glands eliminated during the treatment represent only 2% of the sweat glands in your body. This means removing them won’t impact your ability to regulate temperature. As the handpiece simultaneously cools the skin to protect it while delivering heat directly to the glands, the procedure is relatively painless. Hair growth is also permanently reduced.

Your experienced practitioner will use a local anaesthetic to ensure comfort during the procedure. Some patients report some minor swelling or soreness as well as numbness in rarer cases, all of which clears up within a few days to a couple of weeks. Following treatment, ice packs are applied to minimise inflammation, swelling, redness and tenderness.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Before getting MiraDry treatment, patients should shave underarms the night before, ensuring you avoid any nicks or cuts as the procedure cannot be performed if these appear. Wear comfortable clothing, such as a loose singlet top to allow easy access to the underarm area. Do not use any deodorant or antiperspirant on the day of the procedure.

Aside from numbing the area, the local anaesthetic also lifts the skin while providing a buffer to the electromagnetic energy as it passes through to the deeper structures of your armpit. Receiving the local anaesthetic is usually the only painful or uncomfortable step of the procedure as, once the area is numb, you won’t feel the treatment much or at all.

Stop Sweating Armpits

Many people struggle with excessive sweating on a daily basis. The problem can interfere with almost every aspect of life, from anxiety at work to embarrassment in relationships and social settings. It can be frustrating having to always wear clothes that hide your sweat or be hyper diligent about wearing antiperspirant deodorant. The struggle can impact your emotional well-being and self-image. Other times, it can simply be annoying to deal with.

Excessive armpit sweat is experienced by 3% of the population. If you’re often bothered by your underarm sweat and odour, MiraDry can help solve the issue permanently, so you no longer have to worry about frequently applying antiperspirant or worrying about ruining your clothes with sweat stains. Our clinic also assists patients with face sweating, blushing and sweaty palms.
